A Clearing Right at Home: Sketching at Dusk starts in 1 Hour
Come rest, share, and sketch together under the evening sky.

Amici1, since our last campfire, I’ve been wandering. At times with rage. Other times, from sheer exhaustion. Then, something inside me snapped. Not out of despair, but with clarity.
I needed to turn inward. To orient myself. Not toward headlines, algorithms, or the many cultural advisements that have failed me.
But to my own compass.
It pointed to a direction that surprised me. That direction was right here. Right where I am. The way forward for me wasn’t to the left or right. Not northward or southward, but inward and downward.
To Root.
No more chosen unrooting. No more caving to outside forces pressuring me to leave behind place, body, or belonging. No more giving up the ground beneath me.
The struggles I have to go through will happen right here. Where I belong. Just as I am—raw and real, with my heart of gold and worn down feet.
So tonight, I’ve set this month’s Sketching at Dusk campfire not on a distant hill or dream trail, but right here at home, in my own backyard. And you are warmly invited.
Just cross through the oak hammock and go out where the pine scrubland begins again.
The fire lights in 1 hour—7 PM Eastern / 4 PM Pacific. I’ll be there until 9, feeding the flames.
Come amble in off the road or the faint trail you’ve been following. Bring what you’re carrying, or don’t. Just show up as you are. With your own comings and goings. Your own way of seeing things in the strange landscape called Now.
We’ll talk about where we’ve been. How we can root well. Maybe we’ll sketch something new. If we’re lucky, we may even catch a glimpse of the barred owls coming out in the evening dusk.
This month, paid subscribers have full access to the virtual chat. If you’d like to join us around the full fire, you can upgrade your subscription here.
Free subscribers will still find little sparks of field notes and inspiration at the top of the thread, enough to take with you and kindle you own little fire.
I hope to see you tonight.
💙
